On Monday I begin my trek from the peaceful isolation of Cabo Pulmo, Baja to the urban metropolis of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'll be making a quick stop in Houston and then its on to Argentina! For the next three months I will be working in Buenos Aires for an organization known as la FundaciĆ³n Ciudadanos del Mundo (Foundation for Global Citizens). La FundaciĆ³n offers services to refugees and immigrants, such as legal counseling, psycological services, Spanish classes and other social support programs. Although I don't know exactly what my work will entail yet, I am excited to get started!
Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and is home to more than 13 million people. I'll be living in an apartment in the heart of the city, about a 15 minute bus ride from downtown. Here is a picture of Buenos Aires to put the city's size into perspective:
